Speaking about Codex, HR3156 and the plans to limit vitamin and other supplements and place under the prescription of doctors (who typically know nothing about nutrition as a consequence of medical school curicula) YOU NEED TO READ THIS AND FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. THEN PASS IT ON!

“What are the practical results of this distinction? Under the Codex toxicology model, for example, Vitamin C upper limits are set so low as to merely prevent the deficiency disease, scurvy (about 60 mg daily). However, the metabolic role of Vitamin C is much, much more important than just preventing scurvy. The amount of C that a healthy person needs, according to Nutritional Science, for optimal health, is several grams a day (2 to 3,000 mg a day).

Thus we are fighting for continued access to effective levels of nutrients. Many people believe we are fighting for our lives.

I was not sure about this, so I decided to try an experiment. After 30 years of faithful daily high dose vitamin taking, I stopped, about June 21st. By July 10th I was feeling so ill, with numbness in my fingertips, out of breathe, unable to concentrate, and uncomfortable heart palpitations, that I ended the one month experiment early and started taking my supplements again. Within about 48 hours I was feeling normal. Now I know what I'm fighting for. If I'm ever deprived of the nutrients I've been taking, it is the same as a death sentence. I know what I'm fighting for. Do you?”

Oh, yes, let’s hear from the other side:
Statistics prove prescription drugs are 16,400% more deadly than terrorists
America was rudely awakened to a new kind of danger on September 11, 2001: Terrorism. The attacks that day left 2,996 people dead, including the passengers on the four commercial airliners that were used as weapons. Many feel it was the most tragic day in U.S. history.
Four commercial jets crashed that day. But what if six jumbo jets crashed every day in the United States, claiming the lives of 783,936 people every year? That would certainly qualify as a massive tragedy, wouldn't it?

Be it hereby declared that the citizenry of the United States is at war with its elected officials over free access to dietary supplements without interference by federal health agencies that now distribute misinformation regarding these products.

The threat is posed by HR 3156: Dietary Supplement Access & Awareness Act

Elected representatives Susan A. Davis (CALIF), John D. Dingell (MICH) and Henry A. Waxman (CALIF) have introduced legislation, now in committee, that would virtually destroy the dietary supplement industry.

The legislation is identified as the "Dietary Supplement Access & Awareness Act," but it does not address free access and only creates a negative awareness of these products.

H.R. 3156 threatens to fundamentally alter DSHEA (the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act.) DSHEA allows you to purchase dietary supplements while giving the Food and Drug Administration authority to remove unsafe products from the market. H.R. 3156 would hold dietary supplements to a higher standard than riskier food additives and over-the-counter drugs. It proposes onerous and unnecessary reporting requirements that will increase the cost of your medicinal herbs without providing a safer product. It also establishes a troubling risk analysis process that could remove any dietary supplement even if there is no proof of actual harm.According to the language of H.R. 3156, an herb should be removed from the market if there is any chance of a so-called risk unless "sufficient" health benefits are proved to the FDA’s satisfaction. This approach ignores the bio-individuality of individuals and is an impossible standard for most supplement manufacturers to to meet; the science in this area receives less than 1% of U.S. research funding. This bill is unacceptable and if allowed to progress will severely undermine your health rights. Take action today! And tell your friends. Together, we can put the brakes on this bill that is bad for health, bad for you, and bad for the nation’s pocketbook.
